The Newport-Mesa, Irvine Interfaith Council presents the 7th Annual
Hearts &Hands

               “Hands On”   Community Service Day

   Saturday, November 17th
from 9:00am – 3:00

801 Dover Drive, Newport Beach – at 16th and Dover

 

Welcome to the best annual community service event! Over 600 volunteers will join together

to perform “hands-on” service projects to benefit those near and far who need our help.

 

Admission to service event: One or more non-perishable food items.

 

This year’s project will include:

 

1.            Operation: A Bit of Home – the collection of R & R items for our military in Baghdad

2.            Assembling and painting of wooden toys for the world

3.            Hygiene kits for SOS and abroad

4.            Uganda Orphanage bike funding

5.            Fleece blankets for cancer patients and others

6.            Mittens for children worldwide

7.            Quilts ready to be tied and finished

8.            Crocheted caps made on looms for infants and adults

9.            Christmas stockings sewn and filled for many special recipients

10.        Holiday gift baskets for families we love

11.        Dream books for children who need hope and beauty

12.        Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for homeless shelters

13.        School kits for schools without walls worldwide

14.        Troop-support letters and treats

15.        Recycled grocery bags made into purses for Nicaragua

16.        Threads of Love infant support items

17.        ‘Cookies for a Cause’ made on-sight and gift wrapped

18.        South Coast Children’s Home Society “Adoption Tree”

19.        Cold-Weather Shelter kits

 

Other event offerings:

1. A blood drive – The UCI blood mobile will take our donation to restock our local supply. Sign-up early.

2. A Military Honor Wall to commemorate our past and present brave heroes. Bring your photos!

3. A bake sale with proceeds going to charity. Bake and your best goodies!

4. A canned food drive for the Lutheran Food Bank – Admission to event is 1or more cans.

4. A book drive – to benefit literacy programs. Donate good, clean, and barely used books please.

5. BBQ lunch prepared and served by our local firefighters - $4.00 for charity. (No-meat lunch available)

6. An after-event evening dance for youth 14-18. $10.00 admission for bikes to Uganda’s orphans.(www.88bikes).

 

Youth Fundraising Dance – Ages 14-18

Time: 8:00 to 11:00 pm - $10.00 admission.
Contests, prizes!

Dress code: Boys – Collared shirt and tie.
Girls – modest dress.
